Heard at the Dinner Table Tonight


My husband, to our kids:  "Vous shakerez vos assiettes, s'il vous plaît."

Not exactly Académie française French, but a reference that's quite accessible to our kids, who've spent quite a bit of time at the Shaker Village in New Hampshire.

    Ok, so my French is rusty. I understand S'il vous plait and Vous...what's the rest of it mean? lol

    He said, "Shaker your plates, please!" We learned at the expression at the Shaker Village - same as "Clean your plate" or "Finish your food" or "Don't leave any scraps." But I like "Shaker your plate" better! :)
